About NamKural

Built on the Belief That
Safety Is a Right, Not a Privilege

The story of NamKural, its founder, and the conviction that technology can be a great equalizer — if it's built for everyone.

Our Name

NamKural (நம் குரல்) is a Tamil phrase meaning Our Voice or Voice of Good. Tamil is one of the world's oldest classical languages, spoken by over 80 million people. The name reflects the initiative's founding spirit: that the voice of the people — ordinary Americans, underserved communities, new immigrants — must be heard and protected in the digital world.

"Technology should serve everyone — not just those who can afford protection." — Kripa Saravanan

What NamKural Is

NamKural is a public-interest technology initiative dedicated to improving digital literacy, cybersecurity awareness, technology education, and AI readiness across the United States through free educational programs, open-source tools, research publications, workshops, and community engagement.

Every program NamKural offers is free. Every tool is open source. Every resource can be shared, adapted, and redistributed. This is not a startup. It is not a nonprofit seeking donations to sustain staff. It is a personal commitment — a gift to society.

The Founding Story

NamKural was founded by Saravanan Kirubananthan, known professionally as Kripa Saravanan, as an act of giving back to the society that shaped him. Having worked in technology for years, Kripa recognized that the people most vulnerable to cyber threats — seniors navigating new devices, immigrants unfamiliar with American financial systems, small business owners without IT support — were the least likely to receive the help they needed.

NamKural is his answer to that gap.
